How many DT'ers are doing the Arch Ride* this year? If you can believe the posted stats (49 miles with 6,200' of gain), it's going to be a long and painful day. I will be sweeping the second leg -- if you pass a guy on a black Marin 29'er, please smile and give words of encouragement.

*this is not a paid endorsement

I'm working the Black Mountain aid station, and then sweeping the last section to Green Flash. That means I'll be the last person into Green Flash. Save me some beer.

As am I, and we're sweeping the same section.

I will be ready to rescue you if you need it Eric. Gotta make it to the Crosby Switch Backs or beyond.

Thanks, you really know how to boost a guy's spirits. That was perfect storm of bad days on a bike for me. I'd finished twice before, but everything I could do wrong last year, I did. The big mistake was starting the third leg when my split time to the second stop was nearly the time it took me to do the entire ride the previous time I rode it.

Just stay away from the peanut butter bacon sandwich and you will be fine.

That, and the 1x9, and the no riding the month before, and the quarts of lemonade from the enterprising kid's stand over by Loaded.

No peanut butter and bacon this year? We'll see you at Aid Station #2.

Best of luck to all you DT sweepers, weepers, and riders on the Archipelago tomorrow. Mercifully, the weather looks like it will cool off slightly. Happy Trails!

Yesterday's stats: 48.29 miles; 6,726' of gain; 7.3 mph average speed; 2 pints of Alpine Beer Company's Nelson; and 1 Pork Belly Banh Mi.

NOTB should be thanked for the years they provided a finish line, but moving the ride's end to Green Flash this year was truly inspired. Very nice venue, and the great food-truck food and limitless supply of a huge array of beers provided the perfect end to an awesome day.
