ouch! The sounds of the actual crash are cringe-worthy. Glad the snapping noise was not your wrist.

Damn, just saw this. Was out there Sunday with Jimbro, did 22 miles comprised of all of the Laguna ravines, top of Noble, sunset, etc.

Edit- when I posted I only had seen page one, did not know about the crashes. Heal up Ozzer and Heather!

Public Service Announcement.
If anyone is riding Noble soon, mind if you stop and look for my maxle light axle for a Pike fork on either side of the trail between the 3:54 and 4:07 mark of the video below? I may have left it there when I took my bike apart to strap on my back in haste to get back on the road crossing before my body went stiff.

Los Gatos is in good shape. Thanks to the trail crew who fixed the winter damage.

Mike, speaking of mileage and for reference, from the Wooded Hills dirt lot to the crash spot is exactly 7.99 miles. Now you know. :)

If I get my bike back together tomorrow I'm might make a solo Noble run Wednesday. Assuming I can get the person I know that lives in Pine Valley to drive me back up to my car.

Didn't know that was
possible................

A carbon rim would have likely lived with no damage.

You obviously don't get out much on rides with other people with carbon fetish. Even ENVEs have crushed in a couple of group rides I've been in. Luckily, worst injury I've seen was just a broken collar bone. The worst injury was ENVE didn't honor its warranty bec he was a team rider -not a consumer.

Everything has a breaking point if you just hit something right (or wrong). Don't be naive.

BOTH my 8 month old Enve's got sidewall damage within a week of each other at Calavera. Since I didn't register them, they refused to fix them. It turns out the serial # is inside the wheel so what I asked is "you expect the consumer to take off the already set up tubeless tires to get a serial number?" Long story short, I've move on the NOX wheels and have never looked back. I don't have to register them and they have a great reputation of backing their products...all for $1000+ less than Enve.

I'll take a look at those wheels. I'm thinking of building a new V10. If I do I planned to use aluminum wheels, I want Enve's but I can't justify a 10K+ bike for 20-30 days a year of riding it.
Maybe the wheels would work.

I have the Chinese carbon rims from light-bicycle. I got them built by Mike at north of the border with sapim cx-ray spokes on industry 9 hubs. I have zero complaints with them. They have a lot of scratches in the side wall but nothing worth noting or worrying about. I would highly recommend them over higher priced carbon rims. And just my opinion, but I highly doubt that enve rims are laid up in the united states. They may be decaled and laced in the US which would allow them to still say "built in the USA". this is just my assumption, I could be wrong.

They are definitely laid up in Ogden, Utah with american parts and labor. Certain frame builder approached ENVE to see feasibility of maybe building carbon frames IN THE U.S.A.

I hope you don't have to tension your spokes on your ENVE wheels soon because you have to do the same shit you mentioned just to access and tighten even a single spoke. Not fun for a tubeless guy like me.

That'd be rad. I am going with the assumption it's not going to be found so I'll order a replacement today so I could ride this weekend. If you go and find it, I'll find a carbon something for you as a token of appreciation. ;)

Got everything back on my bike and working perfect this afternoon. I'll be heading up there tomorrow and I'll look to see if I can spot it.

One of the guys I ride with also has the LB 29er wheels that he built up himself with CK hubs. He hasn't had any issues with the wheels at all but did decide to let a pro mechanic re-tension everything when the time came. I'd say he is very happy with them. That being said, it cost him $1200 to build them up when all was said and down. My NOX wheels hand built by Dave at Speed Dream with Industry 9 hubs were $1450 shipped to my door. For $250 more, I like knowing that NOX is right here is the USA should I have any issues down the road. I really don't want to have to ship my wheels to China for a warranty claim.
