I’m taking a Friday of and going to the Skypark bike park in Arrowhead with a friend from work. It looks fun with flowy jump lines. They open at 9:00. Post up if you want to go or if you’ve been, let me know what to expect.

We went a few Fridays ago and crowds were VERY light. The trails were fantastically maintained and we rode them all at least once. There is plenty of shade on the climb and it was no problem on a 6" travel bike. The employees were surprisingly upbeat and enthusiastic. If I didn't know better, I would have though we were there on opening weekend. The food at the restaurants was very good, though not necessarily the largest portions. The Philly cheesesteak was my favorite.

All that being said, I think they tried too hard to put as many jumps in as possible on some of the lines so pay attention. Also, as great as everything was, I was bored and ready to go by 2 pm. If I had kids that liked to ride, I could go more often but since that's not the case, I'll go maybe twice a year and be fine. I'm in the minority but I prefer the longer, faster lines at Snow Summit. My opinion is probably skewed from just returning from Whistler as well.

Have fun!! FYI, there's a HUGE thread on Skypark on MTBR in the SoCal Forum.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like we're in for a good time.

We have been there on a few weekends. The morning will be more busy. IMHO, there is no need to be there first thing. It is much less crowded after lunch.

I asked their PR guy that very question and he said for whatever reason, Sundays are usually their busiest day. I'm guessing because many people with kids have soccer/football/baseball/etc...youth events to attend on Saturday. He also said Thursdays are busier than Fridays and about equal to Saturdays due to the demo events that day.

That being said, I saw a video somebody posted from a Saturday and the climb up looked pretty packed overall, made worse by bikes slaloming thru the pack at 3 times the speed of the others. That's a repeated complaint on the MTBR thread.
