I took my son for his first 26" mountain bike ride yesterday. I've been waiting 10 years for the day he would be big enough to come riding with me. We have done a few rides in the fields by the Mongoose Compound here in Poway but from my house all the trail heads have a pretty good climb to get to. So I chose P.Q to the waterfall for our first "all dirt" ride. We loaded up the Suburbanator, (my vehicle) and drove to the trail-head by the ball fields. There is always a lot of youth sporting going on at the park so a lot of cars in the lot didn't strike me as odd. When we got to the end of the road, there were signs and a guy in a PQ softball shirt there telling us all of the parking in the area around the trail head was reserved. It seems there is a big Memorial Day girls softball tournament going on this weekend. We wound up parking across from the Gym. I don't know how that works, that a public park can discriminate parking for one group over another. But sense its P.Q. and they discriminate against Mountain Bikes every chance they get, I wasn't too surprised. And sense my boy was with me, I didn't challenge the guy. I guess the moral of this story is, if your planning on riding P.Q. this weekend, parking might be an issue.

When I figure out how to post pictures I'll do a ride report. I can officially report Ryder is a rider.

My son is 32 now and I can still remember most of the times we have been able to ride together. I especially remember the first time the two of us rode Noble together. I look forward to the next time we'll get to, very much. He now lives in Wyoming. Hang on to these memories. They grow up far to quickly. Your a lucky man.
