but not the critical kind. This is more of a hike report. Last week we were visiting my brother in Hopkinton, MA. I tried to find a rental for some rides back there, but no luck so I was left to hiking, which was pretty fun also.

Every year, the Major Taylor Association and the town of Worcester hosts the George Street Challenge ( http://www.majortaylorassociation.org/e ... et10.shtml ) and this year my sister in law decided she wanted to give it a shot so we went along to cheer her on. This is a 500 feet hill climb, but with an average grade of 18%. We watched from one of the steepest parts which turned out to be a great place to watch the riders really push themselves.

The beginning

My brother's neighbor. I think he did it around 31 seconds. Last year he broke the 30 second mark so he was pretty bummed. The winning time was 24 seconds

A fun way to take the whole family.

Then it was on to "Vietnam" in nearby Milford. This place was amazing. I would love to spend some time in here exploring. I think they said there's around 30 miles of trails in this area. We only covered about 3 on our hike.

Looks ready to ride to me

This one looked like it was going to roll down the hill any minute

If I was there I would have done everything possible to make that big rock roll down. Thats kind of like the hucking rocks off a cliff thing. You just have to do it!

Now that you mention it, after last year's Flagstaff trip, I'm surprised I didn't do that. I'm sure I could have drafted my 6'8" 300 lb brother to help. Must have been the humidity.

Sweet TR!!

That Land.."Vietnam" was purchased by the local Mountain Bike Advocacy/group....not too long ago, Im too lazy to google it, but it was in 2002 or 2003 I believe. The first Mt Bike Advocacy/Group in the US to do so.
So...who wants to chip in and buy some land?

Heard/read a lot about Vietnam trail system back there. Reminds me of Tucson's Fantasy Island system.

BOTH are an example of a PROGRESSIVE municipalities approach towards trails.

Here, on the other hand, we can point to Flightline, and soon, DMM, and hang our heads in shame....

Thanks for the report. My wife went to college in Worcester and her family still lives in Mass.

Now that I know there are some trails back there, next time we visit I'll try to bring the bike.

Thanks! I knew there was a lot more out there, but we didn't have a lot of time to explore. Next time for sure, I'm going to have to plan a day out there and bring a lot of pads if I make it even close to where you took those pictures. The trails are only about 5 minutes from my brother's house.

Grew up in Southern, Central Mass, so much good riding. Seeing those pics makes me wonder why I can't ride the little rocks we have here???? I gotta get my skillz back.
