As with Little Creek, Gooseberry is a must-do if you're in the area, so it was a given we would be spending a day here. We found a wicked campsite over past the windmill trailhead, and then set off for our ride.

Campsite view. Nice!

Bjammin crosses a man-sized gate
Image

Nice spot to catch your breath, except that the view will take it away
Image

First rock roll on the day!

Cruising near the rim
Image

Bjammin on a fun roller
Image

Offroadie in pursuit of white dots
Image

Riding on the edge

Dropping in
Image

Mark cruises around a corner

Image

Bjammin knows better than to check out the view
Image

Image

Near full compression on this steep
Image

Offroadie is next
Image

Still chasing dots
Image

I've been playing with action pano shots. This one wasn't even planned at the time, but turned out well
Image

Checking out the view at the point
Image

What could be better than lunch at this spot? Om nom nom....
Image

View south from the Point, with Little Creek mesa in the distance
Image

Rolling back down to the main trail
Image

Bjammin on the roller
Image

I love the way this tree frames the shot, Gooseberry Trail sign included
Image

Offroadie climbs a steep section
Image

And more climbing
Image

And more...we should be at the highest point on the mesa by now
Image

Offroadie enters the Waterfall
Image

Bjamming ahead
Image

Another roller
Image

Bjammin prepares to descend
Image

This section is a MTB dream come true
Image

A local pointed us to a secret stash
Image

Little ridden, it had a cool back country feel and we did not see anyone else on it
Image

There were still white dots to follow, however navigation was tough in spots
Image

Bjammin rolling
Image

rolling....
Image

This was like a reverse toilet bowl...up the chute to a flat, then up again
Image

Resting at the top
Image

We make our way back to the main network of trails
Image

Late afternoon light
Image

Reflective material kinda screwed up the shot but I liked the way it turned out
Image

Gorgeous colors!
Image

Back on rim trail
Image

Offroadie muscles up a steep face
Image

Back at camp a fire was soon lit to ward off the cold
Image

We had a lot of beer to drink, so it had to be a large fire!

Another great day of riding, over 22mi if I recall. Wow, this place is fun. I'm already thinking about another trip here. :bang:

Great shots. Look like you went counter-clockwise on the route. I've never tried it that way. Maybe I should shake things up a bit, heh?

Awesome trail reports from the Gooseberry area! Great pictures too.

I'm heading over there Sunday to spend Thanksgiving week riding all the trails have to offer. Your reports are getting me totally stoked for it!!!! :bang:

Did you guys hit any trails in the St George area? The new ZEN trail looks pretty cool, I plan on checking it out along with a couple others in that area. I've mostly stuck to the Hurricane/Goose area in the past.

OK, Evan, you've been getting way too many sweet MTB trips in lately! Am I just in the wrong line of work or what? Guess the marriage and baby thing doesn't help either!

I think counter-clockwise is the best way to hit the outer stuff, a lot of the features flow better that way, like the pic where Ben is dropping in, the Waterfall, etc. Of course it would be fun in either direction, just like the trails which cross the mesa seem to be fun both ways. Yeah give it a try CCW next time!

No St George this time. I had grand plans to ride a few of the smaller areas in Hurricane & St G but we ended up spending too much time each day where we were. We did ride Zen back in April, its worth the time. viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5476&hilit=zen

There is other stuff right near Zen thats worth it - Bearclaw Poppy, and I think Barrel Roll is there too - that one has some fun jumps and features. There's another called Icehouse I saw on MTBR which is being worked on right now, and is described as JEM, but tilted more so its less pedally. That was another that I wanted to hit but will have to wait til next year. Have fun out there!

Thanks for the tips. I'm definitely riding the Bearclaw/Stuckey loop and will try to get to others as time permits.

Looks like the first couple of days are going to be rainy. I went in Feb also and got snowed out from ridding Goose so I'm going to be bummed if it happens again.

Looks like you guys had awesome weather!!
