On Sunday, May 3 we rode our last ride in Hurricane, UT. It was on a trail called Prospector, which lead us to a short slick rock route called Church Rocks. Both trials were through very red soil, rocks, and sand. It was the color of brick and truly beautiful.

There were a few options but time was short (11:00 check out) and we were pooped! 6 great rides in 5 days was plenty. Part of me wanted to stay but the wife, kids, and my employer required me to return. So we headed south on Prospector towards Church Rocks. After a short mild double/single track climb (my worn out legs begged to differ) we arrived at a 2.5 mile undulating single track that made my whole body smile.

Unlike the previous rides, we were able to scream through this, catch a little air over some whoops and I even had the chance to get up and personal with the fauna. Too much speed and sandy corners get me all the time.

The scenery was amazing. I did not get any action pics because it was a short ride and my mind was on the drive home. I did manage to get a few of the rocks and such. I will let the pictures do the talking.

Once we looped Church Rocks, we headed north, retracing our tracks on Prospector back to the truck. Remember that little rise I told you about in beginning? Well on the way down, it was big chain ring time! That last ½ mile clinched the week for us. Time to pack it up and head home.

If you go to Hurricane, you can camp for free or spend a little money like we did and stay at one of the motels in town. For $30-50 per night, you get clean sheets, comfortable sleeping arraignments and, the best part, hot showers. While the outside may not be pretty, it was heavenly to wake up not hurting from sleeping on the ground.

One last thing. I bought a new (used) truck back in December. This was its maiden voyage. It was perfect for the trip.

I am loving the creature comforts. Now I know the right way to do this. See you folks on the trail.

Matt

That looks like the Days Inn, we stayed there last time, the jacuzzi is at the front.
Great TR, thanks bankerboy!

It is a Travel Lodge but 6 of one, half a dozen of another. The jacuzzi was in the front, right on the main street so you could watch all the traffic go by as you unwound. They also served a "Continental Breakfast" but I am not too sure which continent it came from. It was cereal, toast, and juice. Stale and sparse. Not enough to fuel me for the day. We eat a real breakfast at JB's most of the time. Still, like I said, the price was right so I am not complaining. Next time I go back, I would stay there again.

So now I am laughing.

You and I ride the exact same bike, like the exact same type of trails, go on the exact same trips, stay at the exact same places on those trips.

You are a south county me!
