First off, I should probably break my longtime lurker status and "allow myself to introduce... myself" My name is Jim and we live in Fallbrook. I am definitely a weekend warrior and mostly ride with my son Samuel who is 15. We used to live in Colorado and moved to San Diego a couple years ago. I have been taking Samuel out for rides since he was about 8. We've been on some great trips in the last couple years together. We've been to Bend, Hurricane/Gooseberry, Moab, Fruita and now Sedona.

I can't compete with Evan's TR or photos so this is really a TR on our family trip to Sedona. My wife and daughter like to hike but ride a bit too, so we got a mixture of rides in and sightseeing. We rented a house for the week off Schnebly Hill Road that worked out great.

As far as riding, we mostly stuck to trails on the maps since it was our first time in Sedona. For our first ride, Samuel and I hit Bell Rock Bike Path > Templeton > Baldwin Loop > Templeton > Slim Shady

The next day after some sightseeing in the morning of Sedona, we did a family drive up Schnebly Hill Road and Samuel and I rode the singletrack back down to the house.

On Weds we did a longer ride. We rode Broken Arrow > Submarine Rock > Broken Arrow to Chicken Point > Little Horse > All of Llama > Templeton > Baldwin Loop > Highline > Slim Shady. This is the day we met Evan. They had just come down off of Highline as we were going out that direction. I wish I had known to ride it the other direction as it turned out to be a lot of hiking but we still had fun.

On Friday we did a family ride out around the Doe Mountain area on the Cockscomb loop and other trails.

Here is my 11 yr old daughter. She did an 8 mile ride that day!

On Saturday, Samuel and I squeezed in one more ride. We rode Slim Shady > HT
Bell Rock Path > Llama > Little Horse > Chapel > Mystic > Pigtail

Shortly after that we witnessed an Indian Wedding Ceremony. You never know what you will find on the trail!

All in all we had an awesome trip. We can't wait to go back and ride more. I hope you enjoy the pics!

I really like your TR and pictures although Evan flooded this site with his wonderful reports and pictures of this truely Gem called AZ.

Your report is as great as his and greatly appriciated. It appears that you guys had loads of fun and thanks for sharing it with the rest of us in here.

And what a better intro than this.

Welcome to DT.

Riding with your kids is great, having your 15 yr old still like you and ask "where we riding" on a Sat morning is pretty special.

Sorry no Baja photo from this trip for some reason but how about one "for Baja" from the top of Amasa Back in Moab?

Great TR. Your pics and report is 10 times better than any TR Evan has ever done.

And.....Please, please adopt me!!!!!!

Yeah, I am kinda old, but I would be stoked to hit Bend, Hurricane/Gooseberry, Moab, Fruita and now Sedona etc. all expenses paid

Plus Samuel is 10 times the rider that Evan is too......I would love to ride with my new step-brother!

Welcome to a fellow Fallbrookian!

I think I've seen you riding the SMaRT trails recently.

Thanks! The SMaRT trail isn't too bad this time of year when it is a little more compacted. I really only know the trails on the south side, maybe we can connect sometime and you can show me the north side trails?
