Favorite Trails: Hmm........
For Day 2 in Sedona we had a hookup for a locals tour of some awesome off the map trails in West Sedona. Like Barcy, our tourguide was also a local named John. He had no clue who Barcy was however, even after we mentioned the singlespeed, the oakleys, and the newlywed thing. So apparently Barcy's new friend might be "just another internet hookup". Sorry, bud... Of course it could also have been a different person entirely but we thought this was amusing nonetheless. We were joined by Paul, Chris, and Kevin from the bay area - another internet hookup.

We started at John's friends house which is conveniently located near the outlet of several trails

The views were as usual nothing to complain about

A bit of climbing to begin with as we meander across and around a big rock formation
Image

Nice view looking north

We encounter this tree following the trail up a wash

Apparently this is how they roll in Montana (pic courtesy Gman)

Onto a little used connector to Mesgal. It was little used with sections of chunk connected by steep slickrock climbs
Image

Awwwww.........
Image

These scattered rocks seemed completely out of place

406 and Paul cross a dry waterfall

On to mesgal

A lot of ledges on Mesgal. This is an excellent trail, very fun
Image

After some climbing we get to descend back down briefly
Image

Paul likes the trail. Barcy, you'll be interested to know that Paul is the one responsible for getting Henry Coe park near Santa Cruz added as an IMBA epic. He can show us the goods if we ever get back up there...

Gman does some more climbing

I love the contrast here

Riding back to the road

In addition to being completely new dirt for me, the majority of trail we rode today is not on any map that I've seen. I'll call that a definite score. A good day of riding, and fun trails. Good times....
