Having driven into Sedona at night we did not get our first glimpse of the surroundings until morning. A few others would be in town and we had made plans to meet up with our friends Steph and Dan and their group for the day. We woke late again. Fortunately their group was late as well driving up from Phoenix, so we would not be holding anyone up. We met them down at the IGA at the south end of town.

From there a short ride up the highway would take us to one of our favorite singletracks of the trip.

Hills looked very inviting

Our first trail was Slim shady, which rolled up and down along the hillside.

Some fun rock sections and awesome views across to the east

Incredible views....

From Slim Shady trail we took HT under the road, up the pedestrian pathway and through a neighborhood to Mystic trail. This was a fun bomb that took us to Morgan Road and up to Broken Arrow trail.

Steph's friend Kim was a great tourguide for the day

Dennis tried to slow the pace of the ride by getting flats

Broken Arrow was a technical climb...very technical

But the view at Chicken point was worth it. Here you see Submarine rock (small outcrop, center)

Can you spot the people on the ridge?

Everyone had to try this chute on the ride back...Dennis

The ride out took us down Little Horse to Llama trail, leading back to the pathway which dumped us out near Bike & Bean. A little more climbing than I would have liked at that stage of the day, especially technical climbing, but it was still a fun day overall.

Huge thanks to Kim for showing us around!

Did you take the out and back to Submarine Rock? It is a fun slickrock playground, almost like a natural skate park for bikes.
