This is installment number one of my road trip/adventure to Colorado via Airzona and Utah. The main reason for this trip was to visit my Uncle in Boulder who has MS. I got to spend some quality time with him. I even got him out of the retirement home he's in and took him to see some of his personal things and took him through Taco Bell. He's pretty much paralyzed from the waist down, so getting him in the car and out and around town is a big deal and a lot of work.

From San Diego my mom and I started off towards the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. She had never been there, so it was a must stop. We were intending on ending up in Durango that night, but that didn't happen. More on that later. :D

So far I've taken something like 5,000 pictures and we're still in Durango visiting a friend so it's not over yet. I have tried to weed out the best pics for you all. Please bear with me as this is my first attempt using Photobucket. Also I know that there are not bikes in these pics, and I apologize; the scenery is just too beautiful not to share.

Where are we?

The view from the South Rim is good.

Lots of people, as ususal. If you've ever been there, you know that this is NOT a busy day. We were lucky to have such few people there.

And there was plenty of wild life to be seen.

This guy was just like "Ummm, can I help you?"

If you've been to the South Rim you'll know this:

The days almost over...
Image

Shadows getting longer...

And the clean bike and Civic, ready for the next adventure.

The South Rim is awesome, but I've always wanted to see the Grand Canyon from the much more remote North Rim. That would have to wait until...

Stay tuned.

It's not that far of a drive, and it's very worth it. I would have to say that the view from the North Rim is absolutely worth the drive if you do decide to go though...
