http://nctimes.com/news/local/fallbrook ... 20ccb.html

My wife and I knew of the plans to develop this area before we bought our home, but reading these numbers is kind of intimidating. The infrastructure around here doesn't even support the current population much less 8500+ more commuters.

In ANY case, enjoy Monserate Mountain while you can. It's a great place for a short hike or an occasional ride if you don't mind the climb (average grade is ~20% to the service road). When this campus is finally installed I imagine the Fallbrook Land Conservancy will be battling for their rights, or it will just be closed to traffic. We'll see.

Yes, the times they are a-changing, and the landscape too. That area has had several land use fights, incl. the Rosemary Mtn quarry & Gregory Canyon landfill. How about that gigantic electronic billboard Pala put in? Funny thing, I've only seen it on one time, and I think that was the day they finished hooking it up, because the boom truck & crew was there. But I only pass by during the daytime..maybe it's on at night? It was so obnoxious, I briefly entertained monkeywrenching thoughts, but it'd be hard to chainsaw down a huge steel column!

Yeah, that thing is in our backyard. Believe me, the entire community was on the phone with the county. Pala doesn't own the sign, they are just buying space on it--but Pala does own the land it is on. It was installed illegally (no permits, etc.). It's been off since the week after it was turned on. They were supposed to have it removed by July 31. I imagine they are stalling for lawyering purposes...asshats.

...Yay! Hope they do have to yank that thing. But they can afford good lawyers.
