Two days of sun and we are up and running again.

Good Afternoon,
The trails are in a good enough condition to open today. The only creek crossing that is useable is Ranch House Crossing the eastern most crossing in the main canyon. Single track trails are still pretty mucky, I’d advise avoiding those. The vernal pools on Del Mar Mesa and Carmel Mountain are full, so please avoid going through the pools, or widening the trail around them.

Have a great week!

It's stated that the ST Trails are still mucky. Since only hikers and ponies are allowed, will they stay off them too?

I think that all the trails we can legally ride in LPQ are OK, but I heard Shitz is in need of major work on those switchbacks. Big-time erosion there.

Building Legal Single Track in PQ!!

Image

Come on out and join us build the first new legal single track in Penasquitos! The trail is tentatively called The Appendix. It is in the canyons close to where the original Intestines were, hence the name. This is a partnership with Pardee, the City, and trail users. We will be taking advantage of the forecasted rain.

Meeting Saturday, March 12, 8am Close to the corner of Hollywood and Vine.

Please RSVP so I can calculate tools needed. Remember gloves and water!

Weather is happening

Please stand by for the expected announcement....

***EDIT***

yep....11:00 am update

The rain showers have begun and the trails are already very slick. All the trails are closed until they dry out sufficiently. This may take several days as we are expecting continued showers through the weekend.

^^^ Drat, you beat me to it. I had a C/P all ready to post!

Speaking of the new trail, on Sunday, before I had my up close personal moment with that red rattler, we encounter a couple of kids on the new trail. One of them was on a dreaded electric dirt bike, I don't think it even had any peddles, but the wheel size was probably 20", like a bmx bike. he was wearing a helmet, and he was also very polite to us, so I just could not bring myself to say anything.

He certainly wasn't roosting around on it, or damaging the new trail in any way.

I was just a little jealous, though. If only such things existed back in the 19th century, when I was lad of his age...

Damn, wish there was a way to capture all the fallen rain that flows through that watershed and use it for something (like trail building).

And Ray -- lol.

Time for yet another night ride in Florida Canyon. Get off the trail, boyz. Go violate Leviticus somewhere else.

Not sure where to post this and not sure if anyone knows this already. I've ridden the new trail atop cobbles(BTW super fun! love the grade reversals if you know what I mean).

However someone should let the irrigation people know there is a leak on the very first corner coming from cobbles, making the right hand to drop in to the fast section. Its getting worse from two weeks ago and would hate to see all that hard work gone. (well it will need some fixing). Just not sure who to contact.
