Carlsbad residents — the City is accepting comments until 12/2, and you can request your email be read into the Planning Commission meeting minutes. Details and email address in link.

This plan is for the coastal zone, and there is nothing MTB-specific about it. However, comments about improving bike connectivity from the coast to other parks and preserve, adding multi-use trails to the south shore of Agua Hedionda Lagoon, and purchasing land at Ponto for a park instead of developing it, would all be relevant.

Maybe the carlsbad residents can remind the city the dirt sidewalks are not trails and should not be counted as part of the miles of trails in the city.

The dirt sidewalk along college blvd got so rutted in the last rains they have cones up to prevent tripping and have not fixed them yet.

The natural erosion on the College DG sidewalk path is a cycle. When it's smooth in the summer and
fall, the hikers with baby and wine strollers usually will be in the way at some point so then you go on the busy road and deal with that. When it's rutty gravel riders get to have the messed up DG path all to themselves, mostly. That path is at best a pitchy hiker/runner workout trail and alternate and marginal dirt biker connector compared to Calavera proper.

That being said, ride it till they pave it, on any bike. Long live long rides.
