I know many don't like Facebook and I can't always update everyone personally, so below is a link to a page with updates on Calavera, as well as an email sign up so you will receive notice when we update. https://www.calaveratrails.com/new-blog/october-2019-status-update-calavera-trails-coalition?fbclid=IwAR1u8axo_l7txOIzpO5TrHYCU-h4imCV3WVSKZqEwpCfRmtm8FZCh8QCDPM |

To keep people up on what's happening. We are working to schedule a meeting with CDFW to discuss the maps we have sent and how to develop a full trail plan. This is still under the "Allowed" uses clause, but still a step in the right direction. Also, have a request into City of Carlsbad for more info on the work they are doing, I'll share that once I have it. |

Big Clyde wrote: It might rain next week. We can "fix" their work then............................................... You are absolutely correct sir. I just can't imagine any "Heavy Equipment" used for trail work without using hand tools to shape/contour/pack the trail surface afterwards. I'm thinking fall line They could fill rough in the ruts and maybe cut some drainage reliefs but haven't ever seen any "trail work done by heavy equipment" end up looking like anything worth riding on. Maybe they can open up to free trail work done by people with some experience and desired positive outcome |

They didn't give any further specifics, but I believe one of the things they are fixing is the giant hole near the "landing" with the bench. That's where there was some large drainage pipe. Beyond that, I'm guessing they are also grading the "straight" up trail leading to the "closure" sign. With these reports of rain next week, I'm going to volunteer us to do any "hand work" that might be needed in this section. So be ready if they agree! |

To let us help with the "manual" fixing of the trail after the equipment is gone. |

So be ready if they agree! oh sheesh, this is the second time they have created a ton of soft dirt just before the rain comes... Does the City Parks have ZERO understanding of how erosion works???? Hopefully we can get out there and repair what they do.... |
