As long as I get my senior center and pickle ball courts, I am good.

Dan,
Can you provide a synopsis???

I think they wrote this with the expectation that nobody, especially MTN Bikers wouldn't read it.

Maybe even make a video, throw some dirt at the camera, mist some water, add some excitement so people watch the whole thing.

No bike park plan, $24 million connector road destroying trails, major lack of trails. allowance for large DG paths, Single track called a nature trail. This plan is no friend of trail users IMHO.

If anyone is expecting something fun for bikes, I reckon you're not going to get it:

"It should be noted that the ability to make a trail accessible becomes much more
challenging on steeper slopes and the overall grading, retaining wall and drainage
improvements are more expensive the steeper the slope. A trail that is cut
into a steep slope becomes prohibitively expensive if the slopes are greater than
45%, with exception of Type 1 Nature Trail, which typically follows the general
grade of the landfrom (see Chapter 6). But slopes under 20% are not as difficult
to make relatively gentle with moderate costs. The areas of potential future
trails that go through steep topographic areas are considered a constraint to trail
development. Areas that are flat are considered to be more desirable for new
trail development based on ease of construction."

Boooooo!!! :x

Carlsbad sucks...this will end up being a huge ordeal for them. After months of fighting and trying to figure out what to do, they will sell the land to Pulte, Kb, Lennar and Beezer. Problem solved, no land no complaints.

Also, there is a 400% chance SDMBA will do nothing...again... at least everyone in north county loves to drive to Black mountain for the after work afternoon ride on legal trails.

I agree with you on this but would like to add a comment.
The second halve about SDMBA not doing anything is because people don't do anything. SDMBA is you, me, and that guy next to you at the trailhead. Someone that is passionate and has the time to give to act as a liason for the area needs to step up. I have brought up Calavera at the first advocacy meetings I attended but I didn't use my time to continue down that road.
The reason BM worked is that people like Rod & Matt put in the time. Heck, Matt & I spoke this Monday morning on my driveway at 6AM as he was going out on the Arch ride course to remove the flags since those flags don't remove themselves..
I not bashing you or anyone else but it will take someone's time to get anything moving over there if it's still possible.

You can't get much closer to BM trails than my house but I would prefer to ride Calavera but like you stated, the drive is a bit much for a quicky ride.

Like that mystical figure The Urban Yeti says: "Ride it til they pave it"

Carlsbad, just like the rest of SD county, lives under the guns of the developers. It's always been this way.....remember Flightline?

I guarantee that if everyone sits back and whines about new trails then that's exactly what they'll get.

It's not the city's fault or the developer's fault.

I got involved in Penasquitos because I too was sitting on my butt whining "someone should do X or should do Y" and I looked in the mirror and saw a hypocrite looking back. After wondering how Italo had gotten in my house . . . the rest is history. :-)

"SDMBA is you, me, and that guy next to you at the trailhead."

Mr Ditrider, I get what you are saying but completely disagree. SDMBA has been so hyper focused on other projects that time has not been allocated for legal BS in Cala.

It's not a fight I'm going to fight either. The only reason that place was even rideable this winter was because there was a few of us putting in work to keep it so. I've been doing my damn part at Cala for long enoug.

It would make my life easier if they just plowed the place... maybe I need to change my handle to grumpy thirty something

I totally get what you are saying about the focus. After the protest ride years ago, it was all about Missing Trails. I personally don't like the riding there and rarely ride there. There are other areas (Like Calavera) to ride if I'm driving somewhere. This is what stopped me from attending the meetings but I chose to do trail work at Blk Mt right behind the house to "do my part". But if you look forward from that time to now, things are really happening since they focused hard on that area. Their work has paid off.

The meetings are located in Kearny Mesa and that's quite the commute from N. County at that time so it would be a huge commitment for anyone to attend. Maybe in a couple of years I'll have the time to do that. There might be things anyone can do up there like attending the Carlsbad meetings. Heck, maybe even get in a game of pickleball or two...

BTW- Thank you for doing the same near you and we all appreciate the time  I don't think grumpy fits you but something like passionate builder wanting better trails might work

If it ever rains soon and there just happens to be a "trail day" :ninja: up there shoot me a PM

I know there are some No County guys that are in some function working with SDMBA. Couldn't tell you names though, I don't go to the meetings and haven't been a member for over a year. I don't need the aggravation.
