A friend of mine made this comment.....

Where are the sections on jump design, large wooden huck platforms, hiding tools, late night drunken installations?

That's part of the the real life experience aspect you can't get within classroom walls

They teach all those segments at the class! You just have to sign a waiver averring you will never drink any beer with the terms "Lite", "Light" or "Ice" in the name. Then, after inspecting your pinkie muscles, they let you in the ultra-gnar class section.

Favorite Trails: crooked & winding...
Good class, and the new singletrack we built is going to be very fun. Nice views above the reservoir shoreline. Definitely not overly sanitized. Hey, I saw Gardner add rocks. It's got some tight switchbacks and a fair amount of rocks. Besides the officially sanctioned rock option line or two, the trail just happens to go right by some pretty obvious unsanctioned ones....
The rangers want to do a little more work and put up signage before it's officially open. Looking mighty good as is, but there will be a lot of soft spots until there's some rain and some riding on it.

It was a lot of fun to sanitize that trail.

It was a great day of learning from the IMBA Trail Care Crew and building some sweet new singletrack. Saw a few DT's out there, OldDogDan, Evdog and OffRoadie and maybe some I don't. We built 0.5 mile of new tight, techy singletrack. However, you will have to earn it ride it beacuse it is out between the Escondido and Hodges overlook. The new trail needs some rain and some tread TLC, however once it sets up it should be really fun. Here are some pics:

Gardner, you two-faced sonafabitch. What were you thinking?

Even for a short singletrack, this will make Elfin a much more attractive destination if you add in Equine loop and the climb up. Always a pleasure to open up new trail!

Favorite Trails: Sycamore Canyon (SD)
Jason from the TCC told me this was the most trail that they'd built in one day. 'Course he's been on the job what, 4 months? :)
Thanks to everyone that came out and especially the Rangers and Land Managers at The Olivenhain Municipal Water District that run Elfin. They've proven time and again that they "get it" about trails
