I will be there Saturday morning. I hope to see some of the regular North County riders as well. A La Costa like turn out would really impress the new land manager.

From sdmba.com:

"Saturday, February 28th. Event 8:30 am to noon

Time & Location: Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Calavera Lake Dam just below the intersection of Strata Dr. and Tamarack in Carlsbad.

SDMBA is collaborating with the California Department of Fish and Game to do erosion control and habitat restoration on a scarred piece of trail that is the former access road up to the quarry. The recent rains should make this a great opportunity to make improvements out there.

Plenty of food and swag from our sponsor, Bicycle Warehouse, will be available at the end of the event!"

I think this will be the big telltale of how things will go with DFG. If your a local and ride here regularly, then no excuses not to show up at this one. It's just that important.

I'm going. I've never been to Calaveras, so this is a chance to both pitch in and also to learn where a new trail is. Win-win!

Mark, it was good meeting, working and riding with you. We made a good impression on the land manager. Hopefully it pays off with continued access and seat and the decision making table in the future.

Good trail work day! Warren, the DFG manager, was a little apprehensive about our "erosion control" becoming "trail work", but impressed by our turnout and results.

Here are a couple of low-res cellphone pics. Others brought real cameras and will be posting more, I'm sure -- if not here, on the SDMBA and MTB Bill sites.

Thanks to everyone for all of your work today. Thanks to Matt for showing the new guy what to do and how to use Spartacus. I was the one in the green Xterra t-shirt.
