***Edit***

December 19, 8 am. Again, please arrive by 7:45

Next event is Dec 12 at 8 am. Please arrive by 7:45 at the Sundevil way. Snacks and post libations will be available.

Please RSVP at Black Mountain December 12 Trail Work or let me know via PM if you can attend.

Once again, it will most likely be dry so we will be removing stumps and minor alignment adjustments. It is fun, rewarding, and exhausting. Totally worth it. Be part of the process. Lay claim to your section of trail. When you ride it in the future, you can do so with the pride of knowing you made it possible.

We will be kicking off the 2015/2016 Black Mountain trail building season on Saturday, December 5.

We will be meeting at Sundevil Way. The gate will be open so drive up to the northern end of the street to the trail head. It is a 2/3 mile hike to the build site.

This year we got a boost from the Rangers, the city of San Diego, and America Conservation Experience (ACE). All of the trails have been cleared of brush. We will need to remove the stumps, bench, and create tread. We have enough work to keep us busy for the bulk of the build season.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP here -->Black Mountain Trail Work This will help us to ensure we have enough tools and goodies for you!

New to trail work? --> What to expect during a trail work event It is not back breaking work but it is physically demanding.

Tools - the two best tools are a picmatic (pickaxe) and a shovel. We will provide additional tools but if you have a favorite one of your own, please feel free to bring it.

I'm going. I'm not going to make a meet up account though. Can someone just do a plus 1 for me!

No need to create account to RSVP. I appreciate you letting me know you are coming.

As of right now there's a small chance of rain on Thursday and or Friday. However Saturday is supposed to be clear. Either way we will be out there unless there are ridiculous amounts of rain. Given San Diego's current conditions, I don't anticipate any issues.

I just rode up there today, from Sorrento Valley. It helped me to strengthen my resolve. I'm in.

If any additional tools, like a pry bar, are needed, I might have them, and I'll be happy to bring 'em.

Just checking numbers. If you didn't register on the Meetup site, can you let me know here if you are planning on attending?

Mike, Steve, Aaron, I have you added to my list.

Any others?

Sorry, can't make this one. I already committed to helping some buddies with some sign maintenance up at Noble/Indian Creek/Pine Mt.

I can bring a breaker bar, a short-handled sledge, a telescoping Corona limb saw/lopper, etc. Just let me know what is needed or might be useful.

how did the trail work go? I felt like I missed a good day to work. My wife wanted to get Christmas pictures done yesterday morning.

27 people showed up.

Because of the rain we opted to continue the work on the connector we stumped on the previous weekend.

The final result...

Once we started cutting it was very apparent the soil was still bone dry only an inch or two below the surface. We wanted to get as much benching done as possible so the next rains (tonight, hurray!) will help set the surface. Still have a bit to do. We are trying to figure out the super steep section and have come up with a solution but it requires higher up approval. If approved it will vastly improve the middle section.

While I won't be there next weekend due to work, the team will be out and ready.

I will monitor the board so post if you are in for Saturday, November 19, 7:45 @ Sundevil Way trailhead.

Thank you to everyone who has helped so far. There is a lot to do.

We start the hike about 8:00 am and finish the work for the day around 12:30. After, it is mostly a down hill hike to brew and swag.

Can I get an "in" if you are going? There is plenty of work for you to do. All hands are welcome but I want to make sure I have sufficient tools for the team. I accept PMs, email, cash, and credit cards too.

Thanks in advance.
