I called the City of Carlsbad
Parks department and had a chat
with Kasha. She said the volcano
is owned by Fish and Game. Carlsbad
has nothing to do with the land. I told
her that it is in the city's jurisdiction and
that the city need to do something. Hundreds
of people hike the volcano weekly, how
are they going to enforce the closure?????

Here’s a photo of the old cave which they sealed off pretty effectively this time, using concrete and rocks. It was really more of a short, shallow tunnel than a cave, and was the powder magazine for the quarry.
