^^^^ I'm surprised that the winds that blew those trees down didn't blow the signs away too.
I heard the Santa Ana winds are coming this weekend so we'll see

Gabe better step up his photo sessions on them cool jumps and built trails.
Word is, Carlsbad is also getting pressured by CDFG to implement their habitat management as part of the offsetting development rights for nearby projects.

Met two other ahem hikers on the way out, one said he'd be back with a very sharp toothed friend.

A 4x4 will really limit the new rangers unless they cowboy it like the 2 dirt bike cops. Will probably have their CEQA exemption taped to the windshield.

$235,000 per year to combat "Off-road vehicles, transient camps, trespassing, off-leash dogs and trash dumping, loud parties and drug use."

Seems like a fantastic fucking good use of taxpayer money....

Well at least they don't mention mountain bikers or illegal trail building

Saw some more of those yellow signs today while hitting some trails less traveled.

PSA: See that green section (1 mph!)? Don't even think about it. That segment is nearly non-existent it's so overgrown. Had a nice uphill hike, and will be picking fox tails out of my socks for a while yet.

Did not see the usual DT crew out today, but there was a large Pinoy contingent that I think I recognized from the Inland Empire. And ran into a few old local soloists (NotFast Bob, and Roger). Nice to see them.

Then this happened:

But no problem, less than a hundred yards from getting back to the trailhead. So much for the backup bike though! Now I have two bikes to repair. Gonna have to buy more beer...

Yeah tried earlier in the week, pretty much everything over that way is overgrown and/or creviced out

Nothing epic but the name! JRA up the last hill to the truck, chain snapped, jammed in the cage, broke the hanger. Bad news is it snapped off the end of the frame tab too. But, a new hanger, cable, spare chain, and it's rideable again now (but just one screw in the hanger and a nice & tight QR holding it together). Don't think I'll take it on any long or remote rides! Bad judgement on my part to figure I'd just carry a quick link and ride the old bike until it broke (not my practice on my primary bike). At least it didn't take out any spokes. And mentally moves me one step closer to a new bike. Also thinking about the evolution of bikes as well as rattlesnakes...the old Epic felt so sketchy-handling compared to the Trance. Which I know is how that will feel when I finally get a modern bike.

This may be a PIVOTal point where you where you might PIVOT to a "modern bike" as you say. If you PIVOTed to looking at new bikes, what brands would you be PIVOTing to? As you know, Tfitz and I ride PIVOTS and love our PIVOTS but don't let that sway you. :hello:
