San Diego County Parks and Recreation Dept

Poll reopened at 3:00 am Thursday June 18 - Hurry before they change their mind again!

Your chance to respond ends June 21st

You and your family can play an important role as we develop our plans for future parks and recreation services. Please take a few minutes to share your opinions regarding you and/or your family’s recreation use and the community issues that parks and recreation services positively impact.

Take a couple of minutes and fill it out. There are trail specific questions.

I asked for:
1 Mountain Bike Trails
2 Multi Use Trails
3 Bike Park

If you fill it out, you get a BOGO for camping.

I'm proud to say that the county has met 100% of my equestrian needs, and that they can prioritize their decisions in other areas.

Not a lot of response so far.

I was hoping for a little more response. As you watch all of the development happening in San Diego, think about this. Often, the only thing standing between your favorite trails and the developers blade is time. Once you see that "coming soon" sign it is too late to make a difference. If the land you are riding is not being developed, it can as easily wind up as mitigated land. That is land that is set aside for the sins of the developer and is now no longer accessible by trail users under CDFW rules.

If we can get the county to mandate more trail from developers, real trails, not 8 food DG sidewalks, then some of what is left might be able to be saved. This is not a cure-all but it is important to be heard.

I see lots of riders whining and moaning about the loss of trails. At least bitch to the right people. Take the 8 minutes and fill out the survey. There are open forums at the end where you can specifically call out the problems we have seen.

You have until June 18 to complete this.

SURVEY --> San Diego County Park and Rec Survey

Perhaps folks are running into the same problem I did; The 1st requirement is to enter your zip code. Whether I entered my actual, or a false one in SD proper, I was not allowed to continue with the survey, and received the following unsatisfying message in my browser:

"Thank you for your interest in our survey.

However, we are looking for individuals with specific qualifications.

You may now close your browser or go to another website."

Apparently, I am 'unqualified'.

So I have to chalk this one up to bad copy and paste etiquette. I think it was linking all of you to the survey I took and that is what was causing the problem. I have corrected the link in the original post but it is here too.

San Diego County Parks and Recreation Dept

The link is in purple on the left of the page. Sorry about that.

Also, if it is still giving you grief, try using:
92129
92127
92126
92111
92101

I know those work.

^^^Can't ride a horse?

I had filled it out before and it worked, but just tried again from BB's link and got the following:

Thank you for your interest in our survey.
Thank you for your interest in the Needs Assessment Survey. We have reached our maximum quota of responses and the survey is now closed. We appreciate your interest and support of the San Diego County Parks and Recreation facilities, programs and services.

Hopefully it was MTB comments that filled up their survey quota.

What a bunch of crap. They open a poll and limited the number of responses? Guess they weren't that concerned with what people think.

When it comes to the county and the lack of delivery versus the promises, I'm . . . a bit non-linear, you might say.

Well, FWIW, I did get mine done while the link still worked. Added comments about stroller paths vs real trails etc., and request for advanced trails and youth skills park.

I was able to complete it as well. Tell you what though, it was pretty kludgy and repetitive -- nearly bailed half way through.

If you missed out, their email is below. Feel free to send San Diego County admin a note asking that the poll be reopened so it can accurately reflect the user base of the parks and open space they govern. As it stands right now, their poll is nothing more than a very small sampling that will not accurately reflect the need and wants of its user base. Also make sure you ask for the amount of poll participants allowed. They messed up and we need to call them on it.

Copy and paste into email --> askparks.lue@sdcounty.ca.gov
