Well, at first the trails didn’t look so bad, but after a closer inspection and seeing the high creek flow we have decided to close all trails today, Monday. If we don’t get any more rain they should be open on Tuesday. Enjoy our winter weather, finally!

Made you look!

I am glad we got this. It will really help set up the new trails on Black Mountain. Just give them a day. Nobody like deep ruts. Besides the entire bottom half of the trail is adobe. You will be hating life if you try to ride it wet.

Yup, and more rain coming next weekend. Hopefully that will soften things back up for the next Black Mtn dig.

And, they're back...

Good Morning!
The trails are open today. Please be aware of soggy conditions and do your best to not create wider or a work-around the wet areas.

On the Mesa tops (i.e. Del Mar Mesa and Carmel Mountain) the “puddles” are actually vernal pools and will be teeming with life, so if you can’t get around the pool on the existing designated trail, please turn around.

If your are enjoying a trail on the canyon floor and you come across a puddle, you can go through it or around it on the existed designated trail. But if the puddle covers the entire trail and you don’t want to go through it, again, please turn around b/c we don’t want to widen what are already very wide trails or create new adjacent trails that will have to be rehabilitated.

FYI, for those that are interested, construction of our new Ranger Station started today. Go figure, we got rained out yesterday. You will see a lot of activity on the corner of Mercy and Black Mountain Roads for the next 7 months or so.
