Overlooked by DFW is that a bridge protects the riparian habitat far better than a rock crossing, and my near-fifty years of experience riding Calavera tells me that the surrounding population pressure insures that they will likely never be able to completely keep people out, short of a fully enclosed and patrolled fence line. Far better that they had spent the last decade cooperating with the local community to allow managed access.

More research shows that the No Trespassing signs are not valid as the state DFG site says Bird watching and hiking are legal activities.

http://www.dfg.ca.gov/lands/er/region5/carlsbad.html

On that note, we saw a rather large hummingbird flying loops, caught a glimpse of a blue bird of some sort. Then we had the opportunity to see a rather large road runner. Didn't see any of the hawks that we normally do.

Correction: You saw them saving the planet and the environment while plowing through this sensitive habitat with their trucks using our tax dollars.

City Parks are on the agenda for the Council Meeting tomorrow. We can mention trails but too much trail talk can be counter productive. We will have to fight the trails fight another day. I only say this because I've seen what happens when speakers stray off topic.

The city is having a trails commission meeting Dec. 18.

Please come out to the meeting. You do not have to speak to make a difference. I will ask everyone who supports the bike park to stand and be seen.
