From lunch ride today, looked like they hauled out "the wall" also. Looked like someone tried to do a quick rebuild of the kicker. Luckily the other bridge to the West is just beyond the boundary, but when the Holly Springs/Cantarini Ranch development goes in DFW gets the rest of the land between for management, though there is some good news there;

Quote:
November 2014. A 2015 construction start for the Zone 15 projects is becoming less likely due to West’s late application submittals, delayed follow-up and other management shortcomings in connection with its proposed CFD, wetland and habitat mitigation project, loop-road/cost-share agreement, affordable housing, expired resource agency permits and other Cantarini Ranch & Dos Colinas conditions of approval. Moreover, given the magnitude of comments from the public on the Envision Carlsbad EIR coupled with concerns regarding the new Climate Action Plan laws and policies, including a recent court case in San Diego County, adoption of Carlsbad’s General Plan update/Envision Carlsbad could be delayed to mid 2015, or beyond.

Reaper,
I love the many trails your friends have built out there. Mostly the techy, XC/AM/whatever challenging trails without airtime are called these days but occasionally I enjoy pushing myself and hit the smaller jumps. The berms are awesome!
The city and DGF certainly aren’t in tune with what the local people want to have as far as recreational opportunities go and as such I am happy you guys are out there in the rain and dark. The thing is that after a couple of years of the DFG turning a blind eye to the area, for the most part, it seems you guys have drawn their attention again with the prolific amount building (both XC and more advanced).
We are all in this together. I may be a kook with a flat head paddy caking gimp lines on shitty trail but I think you guys are pushing the limits of what the land managers are willing to allow.
Given the clandestine nature of mtbing at Calavera (hell, am I 14 skateboarding again?) there aren’t many opportunities for vested parties to interact and discuss the direction that is taken. These forums are pretty much it. I offered my opinion, you took it personally and lashed out. I get it. I’ve done the same on the interwebs.
While you guys might not get the credit you deserve for your efforts, I think we will all lose access (likely temporary. Well, until it’s all paved over…) because of the amount of new lines you guys are building out there.
Don’t cock a good thing up.
Aaron

6) good luck getting more legal trails. I have seen your legal trails. They suck balls.

Why do I, in 20+ years of riding and trail building at Flightline, and riding La Costa and Calavera regularly... really, really agree with that statement!

Thanks for the berms!
Love carving them! :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
