I don't know how much was done, only relying on board posts but the DH style trails by the 163 have been hit by a bobcat today. Many, if not all the jumps and bumps were taken out.

I don't have any more info than that. Sorry.

I saw it going down on my into work this morning. From the 163 South you could see them tearing up the bottom pretty good.

I stumbled onto that place in 2008, I think (walking around the park). I googled it and found at least one youtube video of it. It wasn't exactly "below the radar."

I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did, considering how fast FFR was (repeatedly) leveled.

So now that there won't be a user presence there any more, I wonder how long before the endangered dirty needles and used condoms start sprouting from the newly-tilled soil?

My guess is there will be shovels back out there before the end of the 3 day weekend. The area didn't happen overnight. I am willing to bet it will not be down for long.

All they did was clean the slate. The creative process will begin shortly. It always does.

I disagree. The Parks and Rec are not going to let that be rebuilt, other wise why tear it down? Just like the Tunnels, and Flightline. I'll bet money it's gone for good. I wonder what prompted this action in the first place. I'll bet it was a Hiker/Walker - Cyclist incident. Its not like the City didn't know it was there. Something must have caused this typical "knee jerk" reaction to anything Mountain Bike. If there were some kind of an organization that represented mountain bikers in San Diego maybe we could work with the city and keep places like this open.

I don't believe it was parks a rec that had the issue. Rumor has it it was the park botanist/horticulturist. Guess there is an endangered palm or pine in that valley? The entire area was never authorized by the city but it was condoned to some extent by their inaction. Maybe he (park guy) felt it went too far?

Oh, and for the record, you are dead wrong on Tunnels. Shut down for now, yes. Gone, nope. City is close, VERY close to approving it.

Someone should tell the developers that have already staged the Earth-movers out there that. Not sure where your info came from. I truly hope I am dead wrong, but that's a lot of heavy equipment and I don't think they are there to build a skills park.

Truly stupid. But typical for San diego, the most regressive city in the Southwest, bar none.

There was an incident there between a homeless man and a mountain biker. Police I think notified the city from what I heard.

LOL, so this is their way of punishing the bikers or something? Like an incident would not have occurred if there were not jumps there? Fuck this city can be lame at times.
