More of an advisory than a warning but SDG&E wants to add a new 230 kV power line that will follow the existing route from Sycamore around Black Mountain. The lines are already there but they want double the capacity by adding second set of towers. It will then go underground beneath Camel Valley road and resurface near Evergreen Nursury. It will head back into PQ using the existing power-line foot print but adding a second set of towers there as well. Finally, it will run the north ridge of PQ from the power-line climb to the substation in Torrey Hills.

It is scheduled to start in 2016 if it passes the approval process. It will mean a lot of temp closures and a lot of noise in and around the area.

They are a bit blurry but you can get the idea....

So this is going right behind my house, across the street to BMR, and then down under Carmel Mt Rd?

Looks like it heads right through DMM too, eh?

Fortunately, the power line route is already serviced by an extensive network of well-maintained low-impact access roads. These roads are also excellent for recreational use, which is SDG&E's way of giving back to the community while protecting the environment!

I'm sure their permit process will be a bit quicker than the DMM plan plus no vernal pools, sensitive habitat, or endangered species will be harmed in this upgrade
