We knocked out about 100 feet in 2 hours. The soil is perfect to work with. Damp, soft, and easily compacted. The trail will see light traffic for the coming week so it should set up really well. If we see any straggling showers Sunday night, it will be that much better.

What we were working on. Great trail but the out-slope is pushing people to the lower side and causing trail creep in a few spots and wash-outs in a few more.

The benching and some more rock retaining wall

We tried to make sure all benching kept an easy slope on the high side so the bench wall will not soon collapse and put us back where we started. This makes one more part that will not need any help for a long time and be able to handle the increased traffic it has seen recently.

All of this work has made me really want to improve a garden trail I have in my yard. Same sort of problems. Just no rock. Guess I have to make some friends at KRC rock.

And if anybody is interested in trail benching and rock retaining wall classes, I will be offering them, free of charge, at my house this summer. :D

I'm free tomorrow. Will head back up to knock out the rest of what's needed. Drop me a PM if you want to get dirty.

Another short day for us but Rod dutifully stayed to get even more work done.

Getting closer to the swooping left turn at the bottom of the Doug hill trail. It is nearly cleaned up. Can't do too much more unless we get more rain. The ground is already baked hard even after all the rains from last week.

Word of caution - the up-hill side, large rock outcropping by the rock jump at the bottom of the hill has an active bee hive. After the stinging attacks over the last couple of day, I figured it was important to mention it.

Bee-swarming time. We got 'em all around our place on a little canyon in Point Loma today.

Oh...and thanks again for all of the trail work you guys are doing.
Even if I don't ride it, I appreciate your dedication!
