The following is copied from the Preserve Calavera newsletter:

"June 20 Friday 4 PM
Deadline for Comments on the City of Carlsbad General Plan, EIR and Climate Action Plan

Will the Carlsbad of the future live up to the vision of todays residents? That vision supports protecting natural open space, a healthy active outdoor lifestyle and a walkable community. But the draft plan falls short of this vision: open space is far less than the 40% that was promised, many neighborhoods will still have no neighborhood park, and locked/gated school yards are counted toward the minimum required 3 acres of parkland/1,000 residents. Please go to our website for more information at http://www.preservecalavera.org, read the entire plan atwww.carlsbadca.gov/envision, and then submit your comments to Jennifer.Jesser@carlsbadca.gov by the June 20th deadline. We will keep you posted as this key project moves forward to public hearings later this summer. If we do not lock in parks and open space now it will be too late. Once its gone its gone forever."
