Great job in setting this up and getting some exposure. I love the masked out photos of the equestrians! Who was that with Erik?

That was Supple1 and JSatch, each of whom have more degrees than a freakin' thermometer! WTF happened to mountainbikers being disaffected kids that couldn't get on the football team? These people have careers? Where's the cred, man?? Squares, all three...

With that in mind, I am sure that we will all be celebrating the reopened and officially designated Hobbit Trails in March.

Longtime readers of my drivel will recall that I put out the word looking for MTB, horse and running-shoe based volunteers to joint the Los Penasquitos Volunteer Patrol. There's no fee, you get free food and certification in CPR and First Aid (useful for those days when you encounter "GreyCarpet", out cold and bleeding on the trail) and we might even score you clothing. WHEN the Tunnels reopen, we will especially need cyclists to keep an eye on the DMM preserve and to be vigilant against both the 4x4 drivers and the vandals with loppers & saws.

We have just confirmed a date to CPR/First Aid/Ranger Procedures certify volunteers for the patrol: Jan 24th, all day. We'll feed you lunch and I will honor any offers I made that you can prove via cut-n-paste  , so I'm renewing my request: will you volunteer your time to patrol? Do it now, so we're "trained" and ready by the time the trails open. If things don't go rightly and fairly with the trails, you can revisit your volunteerism, then, but this is the opportunity to get prepared and to earn/renew your CPR and First Aid cards from Red Cross.

PM me here, use my email that many know or call me (just don't call me "*****" or "sally").

Kudos to you, Eric. You did a STELLAR job on the 10 News spot, and you have just now caused me to reconsider my withdrawal from the Volunteer Patrol. Maybe it will work. I did'nt exactly send Gina a "poison pen" email, but it was at least a sour grapes ink one, so I'm gonna hafta eat a bit of crow on this.

I'm not worried tho. She looks like a real forgiver-type.

After this is all done and settled, and if things turn out as well as you predict,The new Obama Admin. might just approach you about patchin' things up in the Middle East!

IMO, they could do worse!

Erik came prepared with maps, history and future concepts. I think Ron, the Ch 10 man, came away impressively overwhelmed by the detail at this guys fingertips. So did I. Ron was a nice guy too, game for a bit of a hike on a hot afternoon to help promote our cause. To you Ron-

Ron said he had made snippets from all three, but the producer "thought it would be best if your collective message came from one source." Probably polite TV speak for keep it within time. They soft-balled the issues a bit, but Erik came through big time anyway. The impact of the faceless horsemen and the cut trees was priceless. Thank you MIA! Big score there.

But I think they edited some of the best material, and that's why I think it was just a tad soft-pedaled for their gentle audience. What you didn't see were the final statements by both Supple1 and Erik. Supple1's summation was perfection- succinct and not missing a note. (Under my breadth I remember uttering "Very well said" and was about to go for a high-5). I wish I had a copy of that. Erik is just the consummate professional. We were discussing the raison d'etre of why these guys are so anti-bike; potential ranch profit and the dream of a semi-private horse ranch on the public's coin. Ron then asked the obvious, but loaded question 'who benefits if the trails are closed'. Without missing a beat, Erik deftly turned that into 'If the trails are closed everyone loses, access to the families in he neighborhood whose children all have bikes, blah, blah, blah.'

Screw the LPCPCAC, I think he should run for Governor.

Then give the self-serving Gerst and his ilk the boot and clean up the local committees.

And oh yeah, MEGA kudos to Supple1. This was ALL his show. I'm just thankful I was there to see it.

His bodyguard.

Piss off the DMM Development Planning Board and you'll need one too.

Dude, tell everyone why you say that.

Thank you, by the way for coming. I scrolled up and looked at Luna's post, but it wasn't enough (now that I know it's not Luna in his avatar, dammit) after that prologue to March. Oh yeah, more coming.

Haha, I will write something more up tomorrow to explain the situtation. In very short, members of the Del Mar Mesa Planning Board and Carmel Valley Planning Board showed up to attempt to get Erik thrown off of the LPCP-CAC board. It was an extremely hostile environment. All this was due to what aired on channel 10 news. They threatened myself and Erik numerous times, and jSatch as well. Then they stormed out of the meeting.

I just want more trails for everyone, they seem to want private playground for themselves. The threats were seriously uncalled for.

Threats. What threats?

Shucks, maybe I should remember to bake cookies for everyone next time.

{biting sarcasm intended}
