it seems that this fucked up state cant keep its dirty rotten paws off anything.
offroaders have always been pretty high up on the states menu...but this is just getting ridiculous.

This has been going on for decades. When I was here back in the early to mid-80's I used to ride my moto and 4 wheel all over out there. That ended long ago.

While I am no "tree hugger" by any means I have to say that they state park is a bit quieter and probably safer without all the traffic going anywhere they want.

Certainly it's safer without me out there blowing things up and going through literally thousands of rounds of ammo, all while consuming massive amounts of beer every other weekend...

Piece by piece by piece the soft tyranny marches on... Just check out what our lovely pols in Sacramento are trying to ram through by this weekend. The drumbeat never stops to foreclose your rights with Dems in charge. It's the truth. Sorry.

Meanwhile, 76 percent of American voters think an independent prosecutor should investigate the IRS controversy, including 63 percent of Democrats, 88 percent of GOPers and 78 percent of independents.

“There is overwhelming bipartisan support for a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS,” said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. “Voters apparently don’t like the idea of Attorney General Eric Holder investigating the matter himself, perhaps because they don’t exactly think highly of him. Holder gets a negative 23 - 39 percent job approval rating.”

The tree huggers already have Borrego, why can't they leave Ocotillo alone? It must be a miserable existence constantly worrying about other people having too much fun.

i dont know if you are just trying to be funny, or if you are really that 'confused' (to put it politely).

1-OW state park is already very safe and the 'traffic going anywhere they want' is not and has never been a safety issue; nor an environmental issue since that is exactly what the land is designated for (OHV use).

2-if you are 'blowing things up' out there, you are (and have been) violating quite a few laws, and endangering my safety, my family's safety and everyone else's safety at what is a very safe park...so my sincere thanks; it is definitely safer without you out there.

3-if you are going through even 1 single round of ammo while consuming ANY amount of beer, you are not only violating State laws, but also being a completely irresponsible lameass gun owner...so please turn in your guns at the nearest police gun buy back and never ever pick one up again.

Check their website; (and others).
"Public employees, ACLU and land managers".....Hmmmmm? I see a conflict of interest here.

^^^ Yes, consider the source. There was an article inthe UT about this. I doubt it is going to be closed, but they will likely have to fence off some areas of vegetation and "features" on response. I would bet not a lot changes, and the SVRA will not be closed. Kinda like DFG throwing up some fences at Calavera when they were accused of not managing it. Except the ORV crowd is in a way better position there than the MTB crowd here.

OldDog, maybe i interpreted it wrong....but i didnt take it as them wanting to shut down the park per say, it sounds more to me like they may be going after off-trail travel.
i'm fine with the current on-trail designation on the very east side of the park....but if they think they can make the entire park like that, they are sadly mistaken.

I suppose it depends on what kind of rights you're talking about . . . .

dead on Dirtrider....but Glamis had a lot, and I mean A LOT, of negatives already drawing attention to it before they even closed sections off.
I remember the days of hot strippers in the back of trucks pole dancing down the sand highway, people beer-bonging a 12 pack to head at the bottom of Comp and racing up it on their quads, and all sorts of other craziness. Hell, i was there when a drunk sandrail flipped a bitch and came down Buttercup at full speed, killing a guy on his quad.
with all that negative attention already on it, i dont think the powers that be found it too hard to shut down hills and further regulate Glamis.

the thing about OW is that it has always been a family place (majority speaking)...so the rangers there have to deal with a much lower level of craziness.
however, things are changing...the sign at the bottom of Blowsand that clearly states 'NO ALCOHOL' is already a hard hit for me....i used to love having a cold beer while watching people race up blowsand.
