This is unbelievable. An unauthorized trail terminated at a fence line at the boundary of the Sensitive Habitat. So someone sawed down large, mature coastal sage scrub from within that habitat in order to camouflage the little-used trail. Twenty years to grow those shrubs, and it worked as camouflage for three or four days until it turned brown. I can't believe that CNLM had a hand in that. Most likely the City and their surplus of well- meaning volunteers two weeks ago.

One would think there would be a better way to do it. That galvenized steel post and cable blends in nicely too

Dan, did you see what they did to the actual trail? 2 foot holes dug every couple of strides. Scorched earth tactics, I guess. Sad...

Also, I took some hawk pics a few weeks back and since there was a ranger there trying to get a shot I sen the picks to the parks dept. the response was "see, conservation works!" didn't feel like picking a fight but wanted to say those fences and signs really do provide more places for the hawks to roost!

Yeah, that's just ridiculous. And sad. BTW, that hawk (not sure if its one or more) was hanging out on the signs again today.

Just another example of the regressive policy towards trails and access that this region is becoming infamous for.

I always find it ironic how they highlight where they do not want you to go.
