NCT story on wildlife undercrossings in Carlsbad that many of you guys are familiar with.

Had a discussion about this very subject with Rich Julien of SDMBA. His comment was; "If you were a large animal, would you wonder into something that resembles a mouth of a huge predator?"

Is there another way? I know we as mtb'rs benefit from this particular environmental protection as well.

Animals want to see the sky above them when they wonder.
This is the best answer....

Totally agree, it's like using a crosswalk. I'll use it if it's convenient to where I want to cross, but I won't go out of my way to find one.

BTW, has anyone seen Rich lately? I know he gave up on the forums awhile back, but still. And the stucco wire at LC is looking pretty haggard lately. That's not like him. :?

Rich has been lying low due to some personal issues that needed addressing. I'm sure he'll be back in his coconut bra as soon as he gets his "stuff" taken care of.

Can't wait for his return though. Just love his commentary on everything. :D
