Yeah, last time I rode down there, it was severly overgrown, but that was during the summer/fall.

That looks pretty interesting. I have no idea where it is and have never heard of it before. It would be fun to ride there.

This forum is relatively small, and we appreciate your handiwork.. But you guys really might want to talk offline about whether discussing it on the internet is a good idea. The thing is, intentionally or not, enuf clues get dropped that people will find it and usage will go up. If that's okay, then keep talking! Either way, I mean no offense by my post...

There's no denying southbayphobia  Perhaps when both of your busy racing schedules permit :D , you could schedule a proper "Tour de Southbay". Some sweet S/T, maybe some stunts and the like. It just can't be a death march or you'll keep scaring everyone away. And some advance notice.

Gawd I sound needy.

I had done several "Tour de Chula Vista Trails" and very few DT's had come.
You know when they say "location, location, location" that is why I don't think it can ever become a freeway on our trails, we are too far in the county unlike the centrally located LPQ, but I could be wrong.
Anyone is welcome to come along on any given Sunday ride and we can always do a special DT's Saturday tour.

I say southbayphobia is a good thing in this case. The navigational challenges of left right left right cross here, under there are more than your average joe blow cares to deal with. There are so many "followers" out there without any explorer mentality whatsoever. I say let them hookup with the OC "let me follow my beeping GPS" crowd.

I'm mostly venting here, I had some knucklehead email me about Southbay GPS data and was somewhat semi-rude about me not supporting the Garmin-X05 series GPS unit that use CRS files. I guess it is too hard for him to use a regualr GPS track and an actual map and maybe think about where he is going and look around. I say let retards like that go elsewhere as they are probably also the types that are going to skid and blow turns. Then again it would be funny to create the most jacked up route I could think up and see if one of the GPS arrow followers could win a Darwin Award.

Love the description of the OC crowd!

I went down to Bonita for sunday rides a lot last year and would still be completely lost on my own. There's so much trail they changed the route every ride. There was always a section of trail that was new to me. What will help keep the trails safe is there is no trailhead nor are they all in parks, so there is no central location - the trails are just everywhere.

I say keep it within friends. No use trying to invite a huge number of new people to see the trails when you don't know if they are responsible riders.

After looking at my orginal post I might have been generalizing just a wee bit. :o I got some cool friends up there. I was steamed cause the person was not using thier real name and I tracked thier traffic back through a router in Lake Forest.

But there is a sizable contingent of those types in the OC.

Yeah, you kinda opened up a can there ^^^^. We get your point though, a lot of people want an area completely mapped out for them, turn by turn directions (think Geoladders), and have no idea what to do if God forbid they get lost or get off track.

I also love "exploring" different areas, preferably with a decent map (unless I can convince some other sucker to go with). Let's not forget though that unless we're blazing new trails, we're still following in the footsteps of someone who has gone before us.

BTW, I like your TOPO/GPS files. It's fairly often that I find a "bonus" track in the file so it's like getting two routes for the price of one
