Just in case anyone didnt know.

"•Robert Winston (Carlsbad, CA) – Chair of the Board
A successful financial advisor for more than 21 years, Winston is a Senior Vice President with Morgan Stanley in La Jolla, California. He was appointed by the San Diego Board of Supervisors to be a board member of the Citizen's Law Enforcement Review Board, the civilian oversight of the Sheriffs Office and the Probation Department. He has logged thousands of hours volunteering for this and other community causes, and he still finds time to ride (and race) his mountain bike from time to time."

Do you think he knows anything about the current state of affairs at Calavera?

He's a 1-percenter! Burn him!

He probably hops a G6 from Palomar Airport to Mammoth when he needs to get a training ride in. /jealous

I agree. Do you think if I send him a letter in the snail mail he would accept an invitation?

You would think a person in this position would be leading the charge. But we haven't heard a peep from him. I guess he must have bigger fish to fry. IMO sites like this one, where people that actualy ride Mt. Bikes get together, and share thoughts, and ideas are the best way to rally people to the cause. Look at the response when a call for trail work is posted on this site. There is always a good turnout and work gets done. We don't need no stink'n meetings. A call goes out riders respond. Someone should let this guy know we have a super strong community here and we would like for him to share some IMBA knowledge with us but insted, The riding community is left to figure things out on our own. I for one don't feel well represented. For cry'n out loud the guy lives in Carlsbad; how could he not be aware of Calavera's plight. Or Flightlines demise for that matter.
P.S. someone should also let him know the rubber side goes down.

Pete,

Do you think he is the guy we talked to with the SS Epic? Sure looks like him!

Maybe he puts on a disguise to ride the Land of Many Fences (see Joe's comments in SDMBA thread).

Well see, that's how you were able to recognize him. At Fences he wears a Groucho mustache and baggy shorts.

I know Bob personally and used to ride with him weekly back in the late 90's. I stopped riding in 2004 when we bought dirt bikes for the family. I jumped back into the mix a couple years ago and rode with Bob over at Hodges one day last summer but not sine. I did run into him on last years Archipelago ride.

I will say it's quite possible that Bob does NOT know about the issues at Calavera. I've lived in Oceanside since 1996 and just found out about Calavera last summer. I know I never rode there with Bob. As far as this website, I just found this last year too and even that was from a link on mtbr.

I will send him an email and see what he knows about Calavera...if anything.
