Lots of confusion and displeasure out there. Here is a loop option to help ease some head on traffic. I find it best to climb up tunnel four and descend the fire road for now. It is all on legal trail. The only head on point in the map is the point on tunnel one between the two northern connectors.

Descend a fire road... Nope. Just can't make that sound good no matter how many times I repeat it.

If you had a choice between descending said fire road or climbing it, you my friend would choose to go down this POS than climb it. Be careful at the bottom of the fire road since there is a creek crossing to make matters worst

Oh, it sucks big time. I am just trying to make lemonade out of lemons. But it is not like the single track you took to get there is any big deal either (PQ).

The other part of the loop that needs to be approved by the Coastal Commission are the Rim Trail and Switchbacks. Once those are done we are closer to a complete single track loop BUT the land at the bottom of the Switchback Trail is private property all the way around the lake over by Bakersfield. The city has approached the land owner and supposedly he is open to an easment.

What does all of this mean to a user? More time is needed to get it done.

Hang in there. Your kids should be able to push you through there in your all terrain wheel chair.

Nah, they won't need to do that.....they can just duct-tape him to a BOB Ibex trailer and take turns pullin' Dad up the hills....He'll still get that full-suspension action!

:) Good job on the loop idea, even if it does include that marvelous road.

I've been doing essentially this loop, only without the Intuit bypass. If I'm gonna take that hideous fire road, you can bet it will only be downhill.

I just go out and back on Tunnel 1. Why would I want to climb out of tunnels when I can ride down in them, even if it is not a loop? I've seen very few conflicts with other riders during the times I ride. And when I've encountered other riders in the tunnels, it's usually someone I know and haven't seen in a while.
