News and updates were rampant about the nasty conditions we were going to be greeted by upon arriving at Snow Summit in Big Bear Lake last Sunday. Personally, I was excited with the thought of no line at the chairlift and no clusterfuck on the trail. Raptorz31 wouldn't stop bitching about the temperature and the cold, blah blah blah.. I'm all smiles.

8:20am, parking lot at the Summit was empty except for one car, my friend's. He's not as glassy-eyed as some of our other friends so we decided to shuttle first while waiting for Summit to make a decision regarding running the lift. It was 26 deg F up top with a nasty gust. Second run, still 26degF up top but just as fun. Following our 2nd shuttle run, news broke that Summit will be running the lift. Woohooo! We all stole a quick bite to max out on our planned non-stop runs without break (I always tell my buddies that you can rest on the chairlift ride up..chit chat there and ride more). Glad I have the right like-minded buddies who braved the day with me.

7 lift assisted runs later, it was one of the most peaceful, fun and best BB riding I've had there in years. No one got hurt....bad, and only one mechanical -tube flatted. I got to ride with my wife too (I'm cropping her vid in a few). Thought I'd share some stoke.

Here are some of the vid highlights..

Yeah, we totally chickened out and bailed since we were unsure of the lifts. It did suck waking up at 5am only to call the ride... but I got in a nice, long nap and woke up at 11am. Ended up just chillin' at Bakersfield and Ted's later in the day.

Heard there was still a lot of blockage preventing lotsa flow?

I can't see the videos right now since I'm at work.

OMFG, I'm still sore.

Tara, almost all trails are open. Just keep your line of sight further down the trails and anticipate plowing or launching off of some of the deadfalls. Pretty typical stuff for the first month at the Summit. Big Bear is fun for all.

Here's my wife's segment. She rode in the most nasty weather condition of the day..cold!

Ok, I just assumed this was a standard SoCal "ITS SO COLD" post about some 55 degree ride. But that's legit cold, well done
