with time change just around the corner, and the disapointing fact that I dont get home from work until 5pm or later....I have come to terms with the fact that most of my riding will be done at night.....at least for the next 4 or so months.

last week I built up a cheap-o DJ bike (even though I'm not a jumper) and decided to get out to the Escondido skatepark with it....'expand my horizons' if you will.

I was amazed at how much fun it really is. it is definitely one of the hardest workouts I have ever done on a bike, the amount of upper body movement necessary to manuver the ramps is way more than I anticipated. but the payoff is well worth it.
this only being my 3rd time riding a bike at a skatepark, i'm still trying to round up the guevos to hit some of the bigger transfers and jumps (and those are still a LONG way off), but even the small stuff is a blast.

if you've never done it, i suggest you give it a shot.....tonight i convinced my brother (in the video) who is 50 years old to come out and give it a shot....i have a pretty good feeling he'll be coming back.

If you dont plan on hitting the bigger jumps, will a normal xc/all mt work? I wonder if its better to lock out all suspension.

Damn I wish there's one down south.

Nice VTR Italo -- the riding was (how should I put this?) not heroic, but I love the style of your videos. Cool music, too. Keep 'em coming.

 .....no kidding.
Its a whole new world of riding (for me).....no rear suspension, slippery surface, almost constant off camber contact with the ground, and constant pumping to get speed and maintain control.

my brother and I were just talking last night about how it is very refreshing to have to start from the basics and re-learn everything. we've been riding squishys for so long now that we just hop on and ride without giving it much thought.
at the skatepark, i am basically learning how to ride a bike all over again.....it is not only refreshing but humbling......specially when you are the only 30year old dude wearing full face and pads while all the little 12year old groms busting tailwhips dont even buckle their skate helmets.....they must be thinking > "f'ckin kooks".....
