Well, yesterday I had my big opportunity to prove to myself that I'm not a poseur on Mongo. I failed miserably and ended up taking the same go-rounds on most of the drops on the new bike, as I did on my old bike. . :? Anyone interested in buying a new Insurgent?..... (I kid, I kid!).

In more positive news, we were able to seek out and find the Spaceballs trail head. Strangely and rather unexpectedly, I found that trail to be much more 'do-able'. The pucker factor the first time through was still rather high though. Plenty of 'consequences' for failure on this one.

BTW, I blame Bulldozer for making me realize that I am indeed a poseur. I would have preferred to remain blissfully ignorant, and a legend in my own mind. 8)

Let me give some perspective here. First, Mr. Avidtest's bike is sick. Then we basically lucked out finding Spaceballs after some back and forth on the ridge. He took the lead and I rarely saw him again, as he hit almost all the features on the rocks and we did not. That is one badass trail.

We rode around some more and did Mongo. Now after Spaceballs, climbing back up, etc., I submit that cleaning all of Mongo is asking a lot, especially the big drops, which are only a fantasy to me. It was a good ride.

Sorry Avid, not my intention at all. Just excited that I finally got a GoPro. And yes, Spaceballs is is in some ways easier but conversely has a higher penalty for failure.

But if you wanna meet up there sometime, I'd love to swap Nomad for Insurgent on a run :D

Kimba gives more credit than is deserved (thanks though!). And Bulldozer, no harm no foul. Facts are facts no matter how much they hurt. Whatever you do, keep the gopro vids coming! And next time we ride together, you're certainly welcome to put the Insurgent through it's paces.
