A few weekends ago we had great conditions up at Camp Nelson. There were thunderstorms so the dirt was tacky and the dust was down. Here is the footage from Bear Creek.

This is the next day on The Summit Trail.

Excellent videos. i want to go there, like...tomorrow...or right now. In the first one, I noticed two cool feature opportunities. At 1:20, the trail could loop across the log so one rider is going along the top of it while another crosses under...and at 3:05, maybe the trail could go inside the length of the hollow log! On the second video, I was mostly admiring the stamina of that damn dog. Thanks.

Anyone want to check this area out Labor Day weekend? I have Fri and Mon off, could take another day on either end as well.

jfish, what are the camping/lodging options in the area? Free/cheap/primitive is good.

Olddogdan - I have looked at that log as a stunt. It would take a bit of work to make a ridable entrance and exit. The log at 3:05 is a wall ride. it is a bit broken down right now. It is not hollow.

ajdonner - the 3 campgrounds in the area are Quaking Aspen, Belknap, and Coy Flat. There is plenty of free primitive camping up above 7000'. For lodging and shuttle options visit SequoiaMountainAdventures.com

Great link...I've bookmarked that one in my "vacations" folder.
