Its not a mountainbike VTR, but regardless, it consists of people doing stupid shit and having lotsa fun on 2 wheels...only in this case, our tires are much bigger than yours and we have a motor permanently affixed to our bikes.
Weather was hot, high 90's, and the dirt was really dry making it extremely dusty. At first i got stuck behind the quad in our group, but got over that REAL quick after my first lungful of silt and dust.
we were camped on a friend of a friend's private property, about ¼ mile west of the blue inn, on the BLM side of Ocotillo Wells. Our ride consisted of heading southeast from camp, to an old railroad track bridge out in the general direction of superstition, said bridge was 15+ miles out. The washes were super fun and fast, the bikes were running great and the company was exceptional.
Got to ride my new bike (CR250R) that is setup strictly for the dez....(dez gearing, dez tank, super plush Showa suspension... and the most important upgrade of them all....the Scotts steering damper).
This was my first long ride with a damper....in the past I had putted other bikes (with dampers) around camp, but had yet to go on a nice long ride under WOT (wide open throttle) and test the damper's effectiveness out.
All i can say is WOW. If you own moto, and ride it like its meant to be ridden, you NEED to get a damper if you dont already have one. I cannot tell you how many times on this ride that damper became the sole reason for my existence today...from little ruts in the washes, to cantaloupe sized rocks at 60mph+, to just being stupid through the whoops...this damper saved my ass.
When i get my new DH bike (in the near future) i will definitely be investing in a damper for it...its that impressive.

Yeah, the camp. Chuck can drive anything with a motor fast as hell. Jim is the property owner. He's fast too. They were always waaay faster than me, starting back in high school. But we had a lot of fun for many years. Then I switched to rock climbing, then mountain bikes, but they stuck with motors. And always will. We still meet up for beers.
