okay, this is way late. it happened many months ago, but it was a casual, rocky and overly fun ride.

his highness with alex up front, eric with brian, and justin and i in the middle.

no video of eric and brian as they stayed at the caboose due to brian having some brake issues. unfortunately, they considered us accidentally plowing over them should there be a bike failure as antithetical to the spirit of the ride.

hh and i shrugged it off having no idea what eric was talking about, but we respected his wishes anyway.

Warning: may contain some parental abuse. some graphic video of a father running over his son which may not be suitable for all family members (especially my wife, although his sister loved it)

Nice video. Riding high in the hills, green bushes, blue sky and the clouds really make it look good.

Great video and music. I need to get out there again one of these days. I don't remember there being so much singletrack.

Looks like a good time - enjoyed the video, and the music definitely gave it a heightened sense of drama!

Gotta get back up there, it's been too long. Looks like you started/finished at the Humane Society lot? Would you recommend it over La Honda Dr.?

Yeah, I was wondering about that. It's always looked like a long, steady uphill and thus not very desirable to me, so I haven't used it. But maybe for kids it's preferable to the several short steep climbs coming from La Honda.

A point in its favor is that you could naturally incorporate the excellent Quail Run singletrack (green on attachment) into a loop. I love that run, but it always feels kinda "tacked on" to the flow of most people's "standard" CCW loop.

Fred recently showed me an excellent shortcut (yellow on attachment) to starting the CCW loop. Great idea for noobs or kids, or for saving your legs for later. It cuts out those short steeps on Creek Crossing. Leave La Honda parking into Lake Dixon (no entry charge for bikes) and go straight ahead onto the service road. Hold your nose past the dumpster area, then straight thru the gate onto the dirt road (there's a short parallel singletrack that's hikers only) and hang a left to intersect Sage.

chuck and chad, not sure of the route. hh was the tour guide, but i'm pretty sure it's what map-meister dan pointed out.

we do a semi-shuttle, great for the kids (and me). we park and start at the main lot, at the bottom of ranch house road on the map, ride to the right (not up ranch house), cut up and down some hills, and i believe it is quail run where the video begins. and as chuck said, we end up at the humane society parking lot.
