These helment cams sure have changed the way rides are reported. Looks lik a great ride. Is that place open all the time, or was this a special event.

So Clyde, you were passing folks uphill on yer ss...very nice. But what did you think of the place? I've been somewhat curious for a while, but I think this vid kinda confirms what I thought: XC hammerfest, no shade, non-technical, mostly wide (...sheesh, quads?), lotsa hills,...but looks like you can haul a*s on sections. At least the middle part was somewhat narrow singletrack. Your verdict?

Squid, info here: http://www.vaillakeresort.com/about-vail-lake/rules-and-regulations.html

Dan,
I've ridden there only a couple
times. I think if you know the area
you could put in a good loop or two.
Lot's of fun fast single and double,
you gotta earn it tho.............
The quad was cleaning up from a
race they had earlier in the day.
The oak trees in the campground
are a great place to wind down and
have a beer or two after the ride.

Squid,
It's open all the time, you just gotta
pay to get in. They have some pretty
good downhill runs too.

Clyde

Dan, I have ridden there many times and you are basically correct. However, there are some cool ST sections with rocks up above the lake and a pretty sweet "ridgeline" or "dragonback" ST trail that has very little room for error, meaning at spots you have little to no room put a foot down. There is lots that I have not ridden however. It is good ride in the winter since it gets pretty hot there during the day.

Nice video BC, hope you don't mind if I add mine, more the downhill side of the place.

I'm still learning and I'm kinda slow but if you want to see the place ripped up properly by my buddy Cam, skip to 3:55.

Sean, is that the same trail they used once for a race?
This?

Harley, looks like we need to move one of the Cvera weekend ride over at Vail for a change. I've not ridden the other trails there in ages. My most recent trip there was during practice day of the DH race they had as shown in my vid above. Otherwise, the place could be pretty fun (and closer to my house for a change).

Let's do it

Yes that appears to be the same trail, cool video.

The jump line at the end of my video is off to the left of that trail (from the bottom) in a canyon.
