Favorite Trails: I don't ride dirt
I was so excited to get back on the mtn bike today. First ride since breaking three ribs back in February. OCD invited me for an early morning ride through MT, through Sycamore, and back. I was painful at first, body wasn’t used to the SS, I’ve been a full time roadie for a long time. We made it out to Sycamore and out to Martha’s, Martha’s was fun as always. Trail conditions were perfect!!!! Get out there and ride it if you can. On the way back on the trail that runs on the left of the creek, the one I usually haul ass on I ate shit hard. Hard is probably an understatement. The front tire went off the trail going around a bush and the soft dirt just engulfed my tire and instantly I went flying landing squarely on my left shoulder and face. It happened so fast and I felt a pain that almost made my puke. I dragged myself and the bike off the trail, not wanting to get run over and hopping ocd was actually coming the same way I went. Ocd and his buddy showed up and I didn’t want to sit there very long, I jusy wanted to keep moving. Ocd and his buddy race ahead to get ocds truck. Worse part was I couldn’t ride on anything rocky so I walked a long way to meet ocd on Mast. When I got to the power lines I had to cross a crazy deep creek, but I didn’t care, to squeeze through a fence to get to the campground. The paved ride wasn’t so bad, but I desperately wanted off the bike. I meet up with ocd, he takes me to my truck, and has to help me get off my shoes.

For the next 6 hours I spend this gorgeous day in the ER at Balboa. Come to find out I have a Category II AC Separation. I’m in a sling through the weekend and I have some Percocet to make things interesting. Worse part of this entire thing is I have a race in 45 days that I have been training for all winter and spring. Damn I hope it heals up or heals up enough to ride. (I did the death valley double with broken ribs :bang: )

Enough of my drug induced rant have a great weekend everybody.

Man, that sucked.
I saw B stopped, didn't see a snake and was like WTF. Saw your bike, then saw you and was confused for a second, then thought "oh no".

The good news was we came up with some new name associations.

EMFC
Eric most frequent crasher
Eric most frequently crashes
Eric M-Fing crashed
Eric Might F-ing crash
Eric's Many F-ing crashes

All joking aside, I felt terrible. I know you've got a lot into the kanza and to see back to back injuries is pretty bad. Plus, I figured your wife was probably going to be pissed.

Here is to hoping for a quick heal and an end to the injuries.

If you need to borrow the spin bike, the offer stands.

P.S. JARTS (lawn darts) were pretty much the all time coolest.

You hurt yourself more than I do!

Sucks man, sorry to hear it. Bright side - no collarbone break. That's what I was thinking your story was leading up to. What is the doc's guess at recovery time for something like this?

Yea I know

First thing I did was check the collarbone, was relived when it felt solid and in place. ER doc said 4-6 weeks, but I'll see a specialist this week.

Eric, that's a bummer. I may have something that will help down the road. I have a couple of these things because my shoulder dislocates, and they are not too noticeable, except on hot days, because of the neoprene but it is very comfortable and works well. I found mine on Dan's Comp (the BMX site). But I believe you can order straight from EVS.
