Thanks for the well wishes!

I was having an off day and I remember even saying that as we were riding. I almost slid into the nasty swamp water at the beginning of ride were all the half-assed bridges are...Carl & Kimba are familiar with that particular area

It felt like a punch & I can still remember the sound of it too. It completely stopped me and when I looked down it just seemed too unreal -- I could see the inside of my leg - eeewww... Chadster came back & I remember repeatly saying to him "Get it out...Get it out...Get it out..."

Pete wrapped his jersey around the branch snugging it to my leg then the guys hoisted me on Pete's back and off we went. I held that damn branch so it wouldn't flop around and we chatted like it was just a normal afternoon. We had to stop every several feet so I could get repositioned as I kept sliding down his back and it seemed like it took f o r e v e r to get out of there. Tom and Joe brought the truck around and we headed to the ER. After the dilaudid kicked in I couldn't care less about the pain.

Pete is taking great care of me and he changes my dressing every few hours - this helps as there are still bits & pieces of wood and such working their way out and soon new skin will begin to to form - amazing what the body can do!

Thank you Chad, Tom & Joe for your help and to my wonderful husband who carried me all that way and took care of me!

....and yes - I kept the branch as a souvenir :D

Glad to hear your recovering well.

I'd frame that bad boy and mount it over the fireplace

pretty freakin shocking to say the least. Fuck....So sorry Sue.

hey, was the branch still apart of the bush when you hit it or was it already broken on the ground? I picture a bad prune job. Im sure we have all had a near miss or even injured here and there from someones poor trimming technique, (I know i sure have) so i was just wondering if that was the case here. ...Trippin on this.

Hang in there, you'll be back on the trails in no time.

Ha! I actually broke it --- all I gotta say is I am staying clear of any brush...

 WOW, Sue you are a trooper :bang: .
By far this is the craziest injury I've seen/read about so far! My friend hit a branch trying to stay balanced at Hurkey Creek one year and a branch pierced him right in the shin. I just remember seeing his shin bone! Hope you have a fast recovery! You may have to come up with a new nickname!!
