~10 miles of flowy fun. 2 climbs and 2 descents that can be linked up in various ways. Virtually no snakes. I'll be out at the east edge of the Grasslands around 6:00 p.m. if you feel like getting in an early evening ride.

Can you give me a google map of the meet up spot? I've never really ridden MTRP and would like to.

I would if I could, but I'm not a smart man when it comes to Google Maps and the like. The Grasslands is the big open area on the east side of the park.

The easiest way for you to get there would be to take the 52 east to Mast Boulevard in Santee. Make a right at the bottom of the off-ramp and follow the road around to the big parking lot with the horse rings in the middle of it (a.k.a. "the equestrian center"). From the lot, ride your bike along either of the fire roads leading away from the lot, and you'll run right into the Grasslands. Stop at the edge of the Grasslands and I'll find you.

You'll probably want to park on the road outside of the lot (ample parking) because the gate to the lot can get locked at 7:00 p.m.

I'll p.m. you my cell no. but getting lost would be just about impossible to do.

its this http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 1&t=h&z=16

But on the west side of the 52. park outside the gate you will see a bunch of other cars there and lately there has been a huge RV there every afternoon. Then just ride to the north side of that whole parking area and you will see a trailhead sign. follow that and you will take you to the grasslands area. Its like 5 mins from the parking area at most

Basically right before the 52 'underpass'?

Yeah -- about a quarter-mile south of the 52.

Coolio. I'll be there. I've never ridden MTRP and have been looking for a guide :)

It was pretty fucking awesome!!!! It reminds me off La Costa, but not so far of a drive. You can do as many loops as you want, like La Costa. We just did one, but I am definitely planning on going back more often.

Thanks for poppin' my Spring Canyon cherry!

So I did this ride earlier today. Spring Canyon is that the name? I'm so addicted to it. Some of the switchbacks are getting real loose. Also there is that one spot on the first canyon climb that is just torn up and needs some tlc. I Plan to ride this again in the morning. 9ish. Anyone else?

I don't whether it's just that time of the year, or whether a bunch of people have just discovered these trails, but they sure are getting a lot of traffic, morning, noon, and night.

The trails are holding up very well for the amount of traffic they get. I guess that's a testament to the riders who do maintenance on the trails because they love them, not because they're drawing a paycheck from the city or the county.

I was going to lament that these trails aren't part of MTRP, but now that I think about it, that's probably a good thing . . . .
