Is it okay if non-roadies follow the TdeF? Anyhow, yeah that was outrageous, and so far as I know, the only consequence discussed is that the driver is banned from the Tour. I think he should be arrested for reckless driving, or whatever similar laws the French might have. I haven't seen the driver's name published -- probably a good thing, to avoid being beaten senseless by a horde of roadies flailing away.

Yeah... I guess it really is best not to publish the name...

Ahhh, yesterday's Stage......pure brilliance when the Katusha rider forearm-checked Contador straight-off the road into the crowd.....

Was watchin' it live and was thinking WTF !!! ???

Driver is gonna be sued for reckless driving and hit & run .

Respect for Dutch cyclist Johny Hoogerland , after being launched into the barbwire at 40 miles an hour he finished the ride , ended up on stage to take the best climber jersey and he got the "fighter of the day award" . Then they took him to the hospital where 33 stitches were needed in his a** and upperlegs , crazy dudes !!

That driver (and Hoogerland) is very lucky Hoogerland hit the barbed wire with his back and not his neck!

I am actually surprised this type of thing does not happen more with all the crazy team cars, motos and photogs zipping around the riders on the "closed" course.

Real crashy Tour this one.

That was absolutely horrific to watch. I would have just as soon seen the car hit the tree or end up in the ditch. Good to see both riders finished but watching Hoogerland take the podium for the KOM jersey and his Dad's reaction was a bit of a tear jerker.

This is only the second TdF I've watched and have to say that I have a whole new level of respect for the riders, not roadies in general, but the guys in the Tour are truly hard core.

As a side note, I wonder if Schleck would have still called for the stage to be neautralized after the previous big crash if Contador was in the breakaway. Assuming that Contador could stay on his bike long enough to have been in the breakaway. :flame:

watched it this morning and it looks like hoogerland is still racing. Rooting for the Schlecks. 9th stage when Contador had mechanical issues I was yelling and hoping for the Schlecks to breakaway. But they did not....

Tomorrow's stage (18th day of racing) is 125 miles w/ 17,000 ft. of climbing. Mountain top finish with a 12.5% grade at the line. Those boys might be tired.
