Seems like Lance's former team mates and trainers are all tongue-tied about Tyler Hamilton's accusations -- interesting.

Dude, the entire peloton was doping including Armstrong. That is just reality. It doesn't diminish what he accomplished, because they were all dirty. However, his constant lying and coverup is getting him the Barry Bonds/Rodger Clemens federal grand jury treatment. Tragically, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up doing some jail time in a couple of years...

I agree with everything you said. It's "interesting" only because it shows the sea-change in people's willingness to protect him. Everyone now seems to understand that there are consequences for being untruthful.

Me too.
I am a huge fan of Lance and the Livestrong charity and I really hope whatever comes out of this doesn't effect Livestrong.

I need to maybe understand this better, but are the drugs they are testing for ones that were illegal at the time of use? If not, than he did nothing wrong except find a way to beat the system with a doctors close consultation. (as did the majority of the field- they just never got caught or focused on). That would be like getting fired today because we were stoners in college.

just my .02- for the record, I think doping sucks and that guys who lie in front of a grand jury about things that were illegal at the time of use are a$$h*les (sorry mr bonds)

Completely agree.

Remember how stupid Landis looked when he spent sooo much money trying to prove his innocence. I fear that in the end Armstrong will look the same. The only downside is livestrong suffering and kids who already have been shafted by nature by having cancer get shafted again in the loss of all the livestong money no longer pouring in to fund research and programs for these patients.

His website www.facts4lance.com just makes me cringe.

It gets harder and harder to believe Lance and I really want to. I guess it really comes down to a lesson we all should have learned when from our parents when we were kids. It is sometimes better to tell the truth and take your punishment then to lie about it and get caught. The punishment was always much worse.

I have to ask, how does (and did) get tested so much that he has never been caught? And why are the guys that got busted singing like canaries? Both Landis and Hamilton were great cyclist and I looked up to them and athletes now I just want to punch them both in the face and tell them to STFU! Clean your own house before you start worrying about others.

I'll try to find the article, but there are ways to mask the drugs and their effects.
Drug C to hide drug B to hide drug A.

It's very systematic and precise. When even a little thing is off - BUSTED - IE Landis.

I think part of the reason some are and will sing is that they have nothing to gain any longer by protecting Lance. It's the federal government they are testifying in front of. If they Lie to protect Lance and later are caught - I don't think they'll get any protection from him for doing so- they'll just get jail time.

David Strickland wrote an article in Bicycling I think a few months ago that basically said "LA likely doped so the question is not if he did, but what does it all mean?" That was the gist of it. Strickland is a friend of LA's and that article was followed by one on how great Livestrong is a charity.

My take is LA has known for a while the shit will continue to hit the fan and he is having his friends like Strickland directly face the issue for him and attempt to deflect the lynch mob by redirecting to the charity.

Armstrong's lawyer said Hamilton is just trying to push his new book about coming clean so he is changing his story. Well duh! The most damaging thing is Hamilton is an eyewitness to EPO injection by Armstrong. This is evidence LA will have a tough time dealing with as evidenced by his lawyers duh comment. I don't know if there is any direct evidence of this quality thus far. If it is further corroborated by other eyewitness accounts, he's essentially screwed in my opinion for the legal battles he is facing.

They should all use EPO so the playing field is equalized.

floyd landis, tyler hamilton, frankie andreu, and now george hincapie are coming clean. these are people who worked for armstrong, doped for armstrong, and lied for armstrong for years. does armstrong expect them to lie forever? the house of cards is collapsing, and the more he portrays those people as liars, the more he looks like a piece of shit himself.

as for cancer organizations and charities, there are plenty of them, and many are more careful and effective with their funds (livestrong and the lance armstrong foundation aren't among the top rated cancer charities.) they may not have a sports star to rally around, but they don't build their brand on fraud either.
