I know lots of clubs have rides out here in Borrego during the winter. We have even hosted many big name teams during the winter months.
But recently I've been noticing a lot of two and threes riding out here.
Interestingly enough, since I've been riding my MTB on the road, many of them
won't even wave hello, or even look my way.
When I rode my Tommassini everyone would wave!

why would we acknowledge you mtn bike scum, with you hairly legs and backpacks on. Plus if we waved it would slow us down.

Gosh, I didn't think of it that way. My apologies for even thinking us MTBs were even worthy of a second glance...

I think the MTBers I wave to out on the road are all kinda shocked when someone on a road bike initiates the wave.

Solo roadies tend to wave, nod, lift a finger in acknowledgement, while those in groups, especially those in twos and threes, seem totally engrossed with the task at hand.

Solo MTBers (in LPQ at least) tend not to wave while those in groups do, except for the ones riding in twos and threes wearing full kits. They don't really acknowledge anyone.

I think all of this has more to do with being super TypeA and too focused vs going out on an enjoyable ride, road or trail.

I'd have to agree with your observations. But since I ride alone the vast majority of the time, I tend to acknowledge anyone I see on the trails or roads.
:hello:

I agree with the type-A aspect of it. The only thing I would add is that a lot of the type-A roadies are less likely to acknowledge you when you look like a Phred. I look like a phred most of the time, but occasionally I'll actually go out in lycra and a real jersey. Lots more waves from the hard-core roadies. It's a bit of a tribal gang thing, I guess.

It's someone who determines genetic code from an automated DNA sequencer.

I seldom have road bikers wave at me even when I am on a road bike. I think my lack of spandex is a social turn off. :P
