Anyone racing CX this season? I really want to give it a try this year, but have no idea how to prepare myself for it.

CX is pretty much, go as hard as you can go for the entire race. It is fairly simple to train for. Intervals, intervals, intervals, oh, and practice transitioning on and off the bike. There is a CX group ride that protijy posts up I believe.

I'm gonna give it a shot this year. Cx is incredible fun but I will have to work on my dismount/remounts.

We can possibly carpool if you are interested. Most tend to be a long ass drive for a 30 min race. I'd like to hit a couple.

I've ridden a couple of their races a couple of years ago... serious sandbaggers there (especially at the beginning of the season) but fun nevertheless.

Preparation? Lower your tire pressure and do intervals on the grass. One of the ones I did at Muckenthall was basically switchback after switchback on soft grass, there wasn't many wide open areas so it was sprint, slow, turn, sprint, slow, turn, etc.

Start by covering yourself in mud and snot. Then practice sprinting full out for 45 min until you puke. Good times.

I'm going to start practicing dismounts and remounts this week. Found some good stuff on the intraweb.

Found Projity's practice:

Yeah. I've been trying to catch up with some guys who would practice at lunch but haven't heard back from people yet. It's a decent little loop.

Found your interval hill for CX training on my extended commute today:

That small hill in MTRP is definitely invigorating on a CX bike with 35s. :bang:

Funnily enough, I ended up watching a Women's CX race on TV last night. It looks exhausting! It's just constant pedaling and then running uphill through loose dirt. I could feel my thighs burning just watching it.

Good luck on your training!
